Zane's Kindergarten Graduation

Zane got to wear a cap and gown as he and his fellow graduates performed for their families at the graduation ceremonies on Thursday.  I thought they did a great job on all their songs, but I particularly enjoyed the one in the video clip below in which they use sign language while they sing. 

 The video clip below is of Zane receiving his diploma.

After receiving their diplomas, the graduates left briefly to remove the caps and gowns and then returned to participate in a few more songs with the younger kids.  Zane welcomes everyone in the video clip below.

Zane will be entering 1st grade in the fall.  We're all very proud of the reading and math skills he has learned this past year.

Gage, Cardinals vs. Rams

Gage had a really good game a couple of days ago. In one inning, he knocked one run in, even though he was out at first. Also, in one inning, he made all the outs at 2nd base. Two of them involved a throw from the 3rd baseman to him. In the other play, he stopped the ball and made the play at 2nd. When they were in the field in the next inning, the first out was a throw from the 3rd baseman to Gage. You could tell he was really excited about the outs.  Click on the photos to enlarge them. 

The team really did well, playing great defense as well as offense...they scored 7 runs.  Oh, and the Cardinals won!

A couple of items about Gage

Gage entered an art contest. It was sponsored by the Hispanic Education Program. I'm actually guessing about that name. The initials are HEP. I know Hispanic is right, and I've probably seen the whole name...oh, heck...why don't I just get up and go downstairs and look for the newspaper. Oh, I know why...it hasn't been in the newspaper...so, we'll just go with Hispanic Education Program.

Anyhooo, it was for students from kindergarten to fifth grade. And Gage got 3rd place overall! The art had to have an Hispanic theme, so he drew the picture below, cacao beans being crushed.

It was only when someone from the HEP contacted Wendy that she learned anything about the contest.  He won $25 for his drawing.  We're very proud of him!

I thought I took pictures at Gage's game, but I couldn't find them on my camera. Luckily, Wendy had been filming when he got a good hit, so she transferred it to my camera and that's what is below. He had 3 hits, I think...a real good game.
